A daughter of Henry and Mary (Harrell) Cotton, Elizabeth was born 20 March 1789 in Nelson County; died 11 September 1823 in Nelson County; buried Poplar Flat Cemetery. John was married, second, 5 October 1824 in Nelson County, to Elizabeth Wood. She was born 20 May 1789 in Maryland; died 11 September 1876 in Nelson County; buried Poplar Flat Cemetery.
