"4. John (Crane), born April 30, 1663." "37. John Crane2 [5], (Benjamin1), … went with his brother Jonathan to Windham, and built a house there 1691-2. Was a blacksmith by trade. He returned, however, to Wethersfield, and succeeded to his father's business as tanner. He drew land in Wethersfield, 1694. He died Oct. 21, 1694, aged 31 years."

Crane, John, Wethersfield. Died 21 October, 1694. Invt. £417-06-04. Taken by John Chester Jr. & William Warner. The Tan yard (the Reversion of it) belongs to the Estate, but the Rent is due to the Widow Crane sen. during her life. Legatees: The Widow, & Josiah Crane, age 13 months, 22 April, 1695.

Page 14—5 June, 1710: Samuel Walker & Abigail his wife, Adms. on the Estate of John Crane, Tanner, of Wethersfield Decd, exhibited now in this Court a full acct. of their Adms., whereby it appears that all the debts due from the Estate have been paid and the sd. Abigail's third part of the moveables taken out. There still remains in the hands of the Adms. the sum of £285-09-09 for the use of the son and heir of the sd. John Crane, Decd. Approved.
(See file), Page 248—4 April, 1715: Samuel Walker of Wethersfield, Adms., exhibited now in this Court a receipt under the hand of Josiah Crane (now of full age), only child of the sd. John Crane Decd, whereby it appears that sd. Josiah Crane hath received of sd. Samuel Walker his full share of his father's Estate as assigned him by Order of this Court 5 June, 1710. Thereupon this Court do grant to Samuel Walker and Abigail his wife, Adms., a Quietus Est. And do discharge Isaac Ryly of Wethersfield from his obligation as Guardian to the sd. Isaac [Josiah] Crane while in his Minority.
Page 131—4 July, 1709: Josiah Crane, a minor 15 years of age, chose Capt. James Steele to be his Guardian."
