John Cox, son of John, at Londongrove Meeting House, Chester Co., PA, married Mary Harlan, dau. of Moses, 9th 8m. 1735. [Card index to New Garden M M, Swarthmore College] Of the John Coxes living in the Chester County area in 1735 the most likely to be the John that married Mary Harlan seems to be the son of John Cox of Drayton, Berkshire, England who settled in the forks of the Brandywine River in Chester County about 1708. John Cox Sr. was born about 1665, he married Rachel in England and their children were born there. In 1714 John Cox Sr. brought land further south of Brandywine and moved to a farm located in now Kennet Township, Chester County, PA. John Cox Jr. married Hannah Jenkins in 1720. John and Mary (Harlan) Cox with Mary's parents removed to Menallen, York, Pennsylvania about 1736. I believe they died in York County (now Adams), Pennsylvania.
