John Coo, born about 1400, as eldest son and heir succeeded to the paternal estates in Gestingthorpe, and also to the favor enjoyed by his father under the patronage of the powerful Swynbourne family, evidence of which is found in the fact that Lady Joane (Boutetourt) Swynbourne in her will dated at Belchamp-Walter Feb. 3, 1432-3, probated at London Feb. 24, 1432-3, appointed John Coo one of the executors of her great estate.
