In Alfred, N. Y., August 27th, of bilious pneumonia, Dr. John B. Collins, in the fifty-eighth year of his age. Dr. Collins was one of the early settlers of this town, having resided here more than thirty-two years. He was intimately acquainted with the history and condition of our country, and once represented our county in the lower branch of our State Legislature. He has also been justly esteemed one of the best physicians of the country, and will be greatly missed by his many employers as well as by the community at large.
Every attention that could be bestowed was rendered by Drs. Hartshorn and Nye of our town, and Robinson of Almond. But all human skill was unavailing. His appointed time had evidently come, and he now sleeps with the numberless dead that have gone before him to that bourne "whence no traveler returns." N. V. Hull
