I believe the John Cochran referred to made his will in 1803, but didn't die until late 1806 or early 1807.In CASWELL COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA, WILL BOOKS 1777-1814, Katharine Kerr Kendall published an abstract of the will of John Cochran, Sen.The will was signed on July 12, 1803, was proved at the January 1807 Term of Caswell County Court, and is recorded in Caswell County Will Book E, p. 293.I will quote Ms. Kendall's abstract:<>
In the late 1980s, I made an attempt to trace the children named in the will, and even though I was far from completely successful, I did find some of them, and will post what I believe are correct identifications for David, John, William, Reuben, Esther, Sarah, Mary and Tabitha, and a tentative one for Peggy.

Children of John Cochran, Sr., of Caswell County, North Carolina
    1. David Cochran - I believe he is the man of that name found in early (as early as 1799) Smith and Sumner Counties, Tennessee.
    2. Robert Cochran
    3. John Cochran - I think he is the man of this name who married Mary Turner, daughter of Henry Turner and Nancy Kimbrough of Caswell County, and who died in Robertson County, Tennessee, in 1833. - Note: this appears to be problematic with the John Cochran that married Mary Turner. Needs research.
I believe that this is the Revolutionary War veteran, John Cochran, who applied for pension in
1832 while a resident of Robertson County, Tennessee. He stated that he was born in Hanover
County, Virginia, in 1757, and that he entered service twice during the Revolution. The second time, he entered in Caswell County, North Carolina. He signed his name on the application in very good handwriting.
A statement in the pension file, made in Robertson County in 1837 and signed by William Felts, Thomas Miles and Lewis Cochran states that John Cochran died in Robertson County on January 24, 1833, and that he left no widow. They then named his children as follows: Jeremiah Cochran, Lewis Cochran, Henry Cochran, James Cochran, William Cochran, Nancy Cochran, Elizabeth Cochran, (?)Rebecca Cochran, Susan Cochran who died leaving one child Mary Ann Folks, and Sarah Cochran who died leaving two children Benjamin Felts and John Felts.
Despite the fact that this statement names all the living daughters as "Cochran" it seems possible
to me that some of them might have been married.
    4. William Cochran. I believe he is the person who died in Sumner County, Tennessee, in 1801 mentioning in his will his brother David and nephew John Cochran.
    5. Reuben Cochran - I think he died in Barren County, Kentucky
    6. James Cochran
    7. Simeon Cochran. Possibly is the man of that name who married, in Person County, North
Carolina, June 30, 1795, Betsey McKissack. I haven't tried to trace him.
    8. Peggy Cochran. Called Peggy Williams in her father's will. Untraced.
[Recent (2001) information is that her husband was Jacob Williams, but I have not had time to
    look for evidence of that.]
    9. Esther Cochran. Called Esther Hubbard in her father's will. When William Cochran (#4 above)
made his will in Sumner County, Tennessee, he mentioned his brother-in-law William Hubbard, so probably Esther married William Hub-bard, and probably they migrated to Tennessee.
    10. Sarah Cochran. Her father called her Sarah Barker. She likely is the Sarah Cochran who married David Barker in Caswell County, April 20, 1790. A DAR record calls him David Edward Barker.
    11. Mary Cochran married Elisha Barton in Caswell County January 1, 1799
    12. Tabitha Cochran married Robert Bruice (Bruce) in Caswell County February 2, 1799, and they went to Sumner County, Tennessee.
