    With these clues to proceed upon, it was found that a John Cleeves, linen draper, was living in the parish of Stogursey, Somersetshire, in 1582, and that on 18 March 1591/2 one Anna Cary alias Cleeves, widow, married John Cross of Stogursey. Here were his likely parents.
