    … Capt. John Chester, b. at Watertown, Mass., 3 Aug. 1635, d. at Wethersfield, 23 Feb. 1697/8 in 63d yr., son of Leonard and Mary (_____) Chester. He was chosen Lieutenant of the Wethersfield Train Band, May 1672, and Captain, May 1677, but had served as Captain in King Philip's War and was so called Oct. 1676; Captain of the south Train Band, Sept. 1689; Deputy for Wethersfield, May and Oct. 1676, May and Oct. 1677, May and Oct. 1678, Oct. 1679, May and Oct. 1680, May 1681, May 1682, May 1683, May and Oct. 1684, May and Oct. 1685, May, July and Oct. 1686, Jan. and Oct. 1687, and Oct. 1689; he was Commissioner (Justice) for Wethersfield, 1678 until his death in 1698, except during the Andros usurpation of 1688.
