    "Chapman, John. An original settler at New Haven, 1638, sold 1647 and rem. to Fairfield; and soon after to Stamford. On 13 Jan. 1653 [1653/4], Richard Osborn entered land at Fairfield purchased from George Hull as agent for John Chapman. … Inv. June 1665 attested by the wife of Francis Brown. Widow; daus. Mary and Elizabeth, under 18, only heirs. Eleazer Slawson, husband of Mary Chapman, and Elizabeth Chapman, conveyed 7 Mar. 1673/4 to father-in-law Francis Brown. Eleazer Slawson, 12 Dec. 1672, acknowledged receiving from Francis Brown, Adm'r on Est. of John Chapman, portion due my wife Mary. John Judson of Stratford, with consent of wife, sold 1674 to father-in-law Francis Brown, ¼ of house Brown now lives in; witnessed by Eliphalet Jones and Eleazer Slawson. Thomas Lawrence conveyed 23 Oct. 1677 to bro.-in-law John Judson. [Stamford Deeds.]"
