"On October 8, 1810 John Casteel (the son of Joseph and Margaret Casteel, Sr., and the brother-in-law of Samuel Strong) sold the land he had purchased from Hiram Kilgore on September 23, 1803 to Teaque Quillen.36 This land was bounded by Andrew McClelland, Samuel Strong and Zeb Lovealls north of Obey's Creek near Copper Creek in Russell County (Scott County), Virginia.37
This deed was signed by John Casteel and witnessed by Samuel Strong, Thomas Strong and James Quillen.38
Another important connection between these families is that the land deed states that John Casteel was then residing in Barren County, Kentucky and helps establish that this was the John Casteel that Samuel Strong followed from Russell County (Scott County) to Barren County (Monroe County), Kentucky between 1812- 1814."
