Martha married John Edward Carroll, son of John Harrison Carroll and Rebecca Larimore, on 17 May 1840. John was born on 15 Feb 1820 in East Tennessee, died on 2 Dec 1901 in Murray, Cass County, Nebraska at age 81, and was buried in Lewiston Cemetery, Murray, Cass County, Nebraska.
General Notes: John Carroll, My great great grandfather was a farmer, raised in Tennessee, but moved to Missouri in the early forties, Stayed there a few years and then going to Iowa, where he opened up a number of different farms. In 1855 he again moved, going to Nebraska, where he acquired possession of fourteen hundred acres of fine farming land. At this time the Indians thereabouts were very troublesome, and the settlers were frequently constrained to band together for mutual protection, but Mr Carroll fortunately came out unscathed from his numerous encounters with them and lived to a good old age, he died in 1901.
