35-1. John(2), b. in England, about 1637. … Lieut. John(2) Carlton (Mr. Edward 35), born in England. … He lived in Bradford, then in Haverhill, where he died 22 : 11 Mo. (Jan.) 1668. His will, dated 15 Jan., 1668, mentions wife, Hannah; sons (unnamed); son John to have a double portion; brothers Philip Nelson and Jeremiah Jewett and friend Ezekiel Northend to be overseers (Essex Probate, 4653). Filed with the will is an agreement for the division of the estate among the children, dated 30 June, 1696, signed by John, Joseph, Edward and Thomas Carlton (Essex Probate, 305:177).
