NEHGR, p. 20:247, does not report this death date, so mistakenly assumes this is the John Capen who m. Ruth Thayer. Source:Hayden, Charles Albert. Capen Family : Descendants of Bernard Capen of Dorchester, Mass, p. 20, does report the death date, but instead of realizing the NEHGR article identifies the wrong John Capen, makes up a fictitious near-twin to be Ruth's husband. The probate for Preserved Capen in 1715 does not mention a son John.
