  3. Source:Belknap, Henry Wyckoff. Burnap-Burnett Genealogy, p. 79, assumes John died "after April, 1777" because of a deed executed with wife Ruth, but upon careful reading it is clear the deed is his son John with his mother Ruth, so Belknap is clearly wrong. (The deed is abstracted on his son's page, Middlesex vol. 97, p. 10.) Belknap also mentions the guardian file for the son Samuel, but apparently missed the description that labelled Samuel as the "son of Deac'n John Burnap ... deceased".
