"John Brownson, of Earl's Colne, co. Essex, England, yeoman, born perhaps ca. 1540-1550, buried as "John Brownson senr," at Earl's Colne, 4 Feb. 1622/3. Possibly he may have been a son of a Cornelius Brownson who lived at Earl's Colne in the mid-1550's, and a brother of "Priscilla dau. of Cornelys Brownson" who was baptized at Earl's Colne 12 May 1560. The use of the given name Cornelius was continued in this family. No will or record of administration of the estate of John Brownson has been found. He married, first, by 1576, Joan -----, who was buried at Earl's Colne, 11 Feb. 1616/17. He married secondly, at Earl's Colne, 19 May 1617, "Mathen" Taylor, who was buried at Earl's Colne 6 Sept. 1622."
Note that another source indicates that the will of Elizabeth Hovell, widow, mentions both her son John Brownson of Earls Colne and her daughter Priscilla Brownson, making it highly probable that John Brownson was the son of Cornelius Brownson.
