    Records show that the name Britz was changed to Britts around 1800.
    The oldest son, John Britts, born March 16, 1773, married Susannah Eckles on May 17, 1797. In 1833, John and his family moved to the new Territory in Indiana and purchased several 80 acres tracts of land for $100.00 or $1.25 per acre, and founded the town of Lagoda, Indiana. John became the first blacksmith in Lagoda.
