    John Briggs, b. England 1609, d. 1690, came to Boston 1635 or 1636, follower of Anne Hutchinson so became purchaser of Aquidneck Island. 16 Mar 1641 freeman. 20 Feb 1673 testified calling himself sixty-four years or thereabouts. Married (2) Constant Mitchell, widow of John Fobes.
