Obituary Notice in Guelph Mercury DEATH OF JOHN W. BOWMANThe death occurred on Monday, May 13, 1918, at his home 276 Suffolk Street, of John W. Bowman, following a short attack of pneumonia. The deceased was born in Fenelon Falls, the son of the late J.W. Bowman, and Mrs. Bowman, of Ingersoll. He had been a resident of Guelph for the last 11 years, and prior to that time had been a resident of Rochester, where he was united in marriage to May, the only daughter of Mr. John Heffernan, Suffolk street, who with three children, Joseph, Violet and Charles, are left to mourn his loss. The deceased is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Macdougal, of Ingersoll, and Mrs. Maynard, of Campbellford. The funeral, which was motor, was held last Thursday morning, and was largely attended, deputations from the I.O.F., of which society deceased was a member, and from Crowe's Iron Works, where he was a valued employee, attended. Requiem High Mass was sung at the Church of Our Lady, and the school children of St. Stanislaus School attended in a body. The respect in which Mr. Bowman was held was attested to by the large and numerous floral offerings and the many mass cards sent. Interment took place in the R.C. cemetery. TO THE GRAVEThe funeral of the late John W. Bowman whose death occurred suddenly on Monday afternoon at his residence 276 Suffolk Street, took place this morning. Requiem High Mass was sung at the Church of Our Lady by Rev. Father Doyle, after which the remains were interred in the R.C. Cemetery, the service at the grave being conducted by Rev. Father Quirk. The pall bearers, were John, Daniel, Owen, Albert, Norman and Michael Heffernan, all relatives of the deceased. A large number of the former friends of Mr. Bowman attended the funeral, and several relatives from out of town were present. A deputation from Crowe's Iron Works where the deceased was a popular employee accompanied the remains to their last resting place.
