    Monument inscription: This marble covers the remains and records the name of the first Rector of the Protestant Episcopal Church in Savannah, subsequently Rector of Trinity Church, Baltimore, the Rev. John V. Bartow, who after devoutly serving the Church for twenty-eight years, in the work of the Ministry, having finished his course in the triumph of a holy hope, entered into his rest, July 14th, 1836, and in the 49th year of his age. Rev. xiv. 13.
