[edit] WillIn the Name of God Amen I John Allen of NewTown in the County of Mid[dlesex] in the Province of the Massachusetts Bay in New England Merchant being weak in Body but of perfect mind & memory and not knowing what God hath appointed Concerning me, Do make this my last Will & Testament, First I bequeath my Soul to the mercy of God in Jesus Christ, and my Body to be Decently Buried, and after my Debts & Funeral Charges are paid, I Give & bequeath unto my Loving Wife Mary Allen My Mansion House & Farm in NewTown together with all my Cattle (of all sorts) also the Farm utensils, and also all my Household Furniture, to be posessed & Enjoyed by her During her Naturel Life, for her Comfortable Support, she keeping the same in Due and Necessary Repair and after her Decease, the whole of the s'd premises enjoyed by her, both Real & personal be Equally Divided between my Son John Allen & my four Daughters all of them to have Equal share alike. Item I Give and Bequeath to my Grandaughter Jerusha Allen my son John Allens Daughter Twenty Six pounds Thirteen Shillings & four pence Lawfull Money to be paid her by my Exec'rs hereafter Named, when she shall attain to the age of Eighteen years, or Day of Marriage, which shall first happen, the said Sum to be & Remain in the hands of Two of my Exec'rs (viz) Townsend & Gibbs in trust, & to be put out upon Interest, for her benefit & advantage, till the time of payment. And I Do hereby Release & Discharge my Son John Allen from all Debts Dues & Demands Whatsoever, that is or shall be Due to me from him, & from any thing he has allready had of me, before my Decease. And that after the Legacy is paid or secured to be paid to my Grandaughter Jerusha Ellen as afores'd I Give & bequeath all my Estate both Real & personal Wheresoever it may be, to my Five Children (viz) John Allen, Sarah Townsend, Mary Allen, Martha Allen & Ann Allen, and to their heirs & assigns forever, to be Equally Divided between them (only reserving out of my Daughter Sarah Townsend's part [unreadable word] Three pounds Six Shillings & Eight pence Lawfull Money which she has allready had in part of her Fifth part) and that my Exec'rs shall have full power to sell any part of my Real Estate (if need be) to make an Equal Division among them and I Do hereby nominate & appoint my son John Allen & my son in Law the Rever'd Mr Jonathan Townsend & Henry Gibbs Esq'r Executors to this my last Will & Testament, hereby also Revoking and anulling all and every former Will or Divices, Legaces, & Executors by me in any ways heretofore named Willed or made. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal the twelf Day of February anno Domini 1750/1 in the Twentyfourth year of the Reign of our Lord Georege [sic] the Second King of Great Britton &c.
