John "Jack" Keith Adams, PFC, US Army Engineer Corps. Entered the US Merchant Marine in 1941 and was sent to the Coast Guard training station at Hoffman Island in New York Harbor. Volunteered for active duty in the US Army in 1943 and was sent to Basic Engineer training in Camp White, OR; Fort Lewis, WA; Camp Howze, TX; then to the 250th Combat Engineer Battalion at Camp McCoy, WI. Landed at Omaha Beach in Normandy, France and saw duty in France, Belgium, Holland, Germany & Austria. Discharged in 1946.
