Acton, John W. son of Joseoh [sic] and Mary, born at Liberty, Bedrod [sic] Co. VA. September 23, 1813. In 1833 came with father's family to Ohio, locating south of Eaton on John P. Acton farm. Moved to Eaton after a year to the corner of High and Beech. Married January 25, 1839 to Amanda Bryant, had 9 sons and a daughter, all living exept [sic] Pleasant who died at age 12. Has been in poor health and became blind about 4 years ago. His wife died last October. He has made his home with James Acton and wife, Dessie and daughter. Age 89 years 5 months 20 days. Methodist then Christian church. Has two living sisters: Mrs. Mary Mills, wife of Jewett of Pyrmont, OH and Mrs. Julia Pierson of Kansas. James, ex-surveyer of Preble who is now in Cincinnati; Joshua of Michigan and Perry of Indiana are brothers. Children. A. R. of Blanchester, OH and Mrs. Elizabeth Stuart of Muncie, IN (ER)
