Johannis spent his childhood in the area of Budenholz. He married shortly after moving with his parents, brothers and sisters to Eissenstein. He and Anna Margarthe set up housekeeping at Kohlhute near modern day Rothenkircherhof (Kohlhute, Rodenkirchen, Pfalz, Germany) and his parents' home in Eissenstein.

Johannis and Anna Margarthe were living in Kohlhute when Eva Gertrude, wife of Johanes Diederich, died. Johanes Diederich then moved and lived with them, as he needed help in raising his three youngest children.

"After taking the oath in Philadelphia, Johannis and his family next show up in Bally in Berks County, Pennsylvania, formerly known as the Groshenhoppen area. The Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church (later St.Paul's) books provide the only other records of Johannis in the American colonies."

Johannis may have fought in the French & Indian War in 1755.

Michael Reeb estimates that Johannis died sometime around1759/60.

Glen R. Stockslager indicates in his research that Johannis died ca1756 in Bockhouse, Patterson Creek, Virginia (now West Virginia).
