The record of the 1930 family reunion reads as follows: "In 1856 John Habermehl and his wife formerly Miss Lizzie Zinn came to Canada from Strandorf, Germany. The trip was made by sailing ship to New York and thence by train to Canada and settled in Baden. It was some two years after they had come to Canada that John Habermehl was killed when he fell from a wagon as his team ran away".
