The author claimed (without providing evidence, but this might have been asserted previously) that Henry Best, father of Bridget Best 'was the son of Richard Best of Ovenden, probably the Richard who was buried 8 Nov. 1551 and whose mother probably was Johanna "nuper relic of Richard" Best who was buried 6 June 1544.'

Note that many compilers show the Richard Best who was buried 1551 as the husband (rather than the son) of the Johanna Best who was buried 1544. This isn't possible because Johanna was a widow in 1544. Pitman doesn't say they were husband and wife, but that Johanna was "probably" Richard's mother.
