Christened - May 22, 1826 in Sczedrzik Prussia, later called Hitlersee during the Third Reich, now Szczedrzyk Opole, Poland He was buried in Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Yorktown, TX Johann Warzecha and his family arrived in Texas through the port of Indianola, Texas. Indianola, Texas was founded in 1846 as Indian Point by Sam Addision White and William M. Cook. A nearby stretch of beach had been chosen in 1844 by Carl, Prince of Solms Braunfels, as the landing place for German immigrants brought into Texas sponsored by the Adelsverein.

Johann and Margareth and their two sons Josef and Ludwig Warzecha left the village of Biestrzinnik in Upper Silesia in the spring of 1855. They first traveled to Hamburg, Germany and got aboard a ship named the Archimedes on April 19, 1855 and went to Liverpool, England and boarded another ship named the Issac Wright for the rest of their trip to America. Josef Warzecha was about 5 years old and Ludwig Warzecha was about 2 Years of age, for their journey to the USA. Little Ludwig died aboard the ship and was buried at sea.

After they arrived in Texas they first settled in Panna Maria, then later they lived on a farm near Yorktown,Texas. During the Civil War Johann Warzecha served in the Confederate Army as a sergeant in Company I, Sixth Texas Infantry. Johann Warzecha survived the war, but died only a few years later in 1869 when he was just 43 years old, probably from hitting a pocket of natural gas while digging a water well.
