About Adam Firebaugh

Adam Fierbaugh appears in a list of persons who took the oath of allegiance to the State of Pennsylvania 9 July 1777 in Hanover Twp. then in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. This was about the time that he settled in what was then Lancaster County.

MILITARY: Enrolled as a member of the Seventh Company, Sixth Battalion of Lancaster County Militia in 1777, 1778, and 1779. 1781 and 1782 he was a member of the Sixth Company of the Ninth Battalion of Lancaster County Militia. In October 1786 he was a member of the First Company of the Fourth Battalion of the Dauphin County Militia.

RESIDENCE: He was the owner of 100 acres of land in West Hanover Twp., Lancaster, Pennsylvania in 1779. His name appears on the Paxton Twp., Lancaster, Pennsylvania tax returns for 1780. He is shown as the owner of 180 acres of land in the 1781 and 1782 tax returns for Hanover Twp., Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Dauphin County separated from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania in March 1785 and Hanover Twp. became a part of Dauphin County. Later Hanover Twp. was divided into West and East Hanover Townships. The 1785 and 1787 tax records show he lived in West Hanover Twp., Dauphin County. He sold his farm in West Hanover Twp., Dauphin, Pennsylvania 24 March 1795 and then settled near Harrisonburg, Rockingham, Virginia.

DEATH: near Harrisonburg, Rockingham, Virginia 1 March 1802. Administsration bond was filed 20 April 1803 in Rockingham County, Virginia. Administrators were Elilzabeth Firebough and Samuel Comer. Guardian bonds were filed 20 April 1803 for John, Mary, Peter, and Henry.
