"Eighteenth Century Emigrants: The Western Palatinate" by Burgett lists the confirmation and marriage of Adam Dick at the Kusel Reformed Church. At the time of his marriage he was a resident of Etschberg, two miles to the southeast. Kusel is located just north of Ramstein, in a western corner of Germany near the Luxembourg and French borders. Another part of the book lists the parishioners of the Reformed Church at Ulmet (10 miles northeast of Kusel) in 1609, which includes Johannes, Johannes, Daniel and Samuel Dick, all residents of Ertesbach, which is located one mile back towards Kusel. It appears that the Dick family had resided in this region since at least the beginning of the 1600's, and that a search of the German records would yield more siblings and relatives.

Adam and Otillia arrived at Philadelphia on September 11, 1738 on board the 'Robert and Alice'. There first three children, Elisabetha Margretha (1732), Maria Christina Margretha (1734) and Maria Juliana (1737), are listed in the records of the Kusel Reformed Church. Apollonia (1738) was born at sea, and then John Christian (1740) is listed in the records of the First Reformed Church in Lancaster, Pa. On Nov. 24, 1752 Adam Dick of Warwick Twp, Lancaster bought land in York County from Ludwick Roterock of Berwick Twp., York Co., Pa., adjacent to Henry Roudebuch, George Lake, and George Becker.(York Co., PA Deeds 2E-408 filed 9/22/1788) .

After moving to York County, they became members of the Brethren Church, and they are buried at the Mummert's Meeting House just north of Abbottstown, on the present day boundary of York and Adams counties. Daughter Susannah married John Horner at the Lutheran Church in Hanover, about 10 miles south of Abbottstown.
