Capt. Joel 6 Shed (126. Joel 5, Dea. Jacob 4, Dea. Nathan 3, Nathan 2, Daniel 1), born in Tewksbury, Mass., 4 Jan. 1786, was a farmer in his native town until about 1818, when he moved to the adjoining town of Andover. He was captain in a militia company. Later he lived for a short time in Charlestown, Mass., where his wife's brothers were tanners of morocco, and where he died 6 Apr. 1826.
He married in Tewksbury, 21 Dec. 1808, Betsey Bailey, born there 1 Apr. 1788, daughter of Abraham and Ruth (Kendall) Bailey. She died in Charlestown 28 Apr. 1830, leaving eight children who were cared for by her brother Kendall Bailey.
