Joel Jenkins is first of record in 1640 when he was before the General Court July 30, for getting his masters daughter with child before marriage, but upon repentance was discharged, hence he was servant or apprentice to Thomas Gilbert as shown here. … He was made freeman of the Colony May 6, 1646, removed to Boston before 1649 and after 1650 to Malden where he died in 1689. There is no record of his owning land in Braintree though he evidently lived here several years and was a church member (see Reg. Vol. 66, for descendants). … Will of Joel Jenkins of Malden dated Jul. 4, 1687 - Nov. 2, 1689: to sons Lemuel, Ezekiel & Obediah; To daus. Lydia wife of John Paul; to daus. Hannah wife of Joseph Parker; To daus. Sarah wife of Joseph Merriam; grandchildren Lemuel & Ezekiel sons of Lemuel, Lands in Malden and Reading.
