    "Aug. 29, 1708. Sab: day. A considerable party of French and Indians Came in upon Haverhill about break of day, & did much damage, killed & carried away 33 persons, burnt several houses. The chief of those slain, were Capt Simon Wainwright, mr Benj: Rolf the minister & his wife. Capt Sam: Eyers, Lt Johnson, Deacons of ye chh, the wife of John Hartshorn sen: many souldiers belonging to Salem & other places were here slain. The enemy also met with considerable loss, & were Repulsed by Maj: Turner."
