  2.   We know the approximate birth date of Joanna from her gravestone, 1765. Neither Source:Hobart, Benjamin. History of the Town of Abington, Plymouth County, Massachusetts, p. 433, nor Source:Reed, Jacob Whittemore. History of the Reed Family in Europe and America, p. 343, identify the parents or birth date of Joanna Shaw, the wife of Thomas Reed. Is it possible that she is the Susanna Shaw, mentioned as daughter of Capt. Amos Shaw of Weymouth, bp. Oct. 1765 (baptism recorded Source:Weymouth, Norfolk, Massachusetts, United States. Vital Records of Weymouth, Massachusetts, to the Year 1850, p. 1:273)? Source:Chamberlain, George Walter. History of Weymouth, Massachusetts, p. 4:621, says that Thomas Reed of Abington was a surety for widow Bethiah Shaw when she posted bond to administer upon the estate of Amos Shaw in 1807. The first wife of Amos Shaw was Hannah Whitman whose mother's was Joanna (Fisher) Whitman. They married in 1761. By the time he remarried 1805 to widow Bethiah Burrell, he was called Capt. Amos Shaw of Abington. The will of Amos' father, John Shaw, dated 1804, mentions granddaughter Joan Reed, wife of Thomas Reed. Possibly, the church clerk perhaps mis-recorded the name of the child on the baptism record?
