 :: 9. Nancy Mc Mullin, born April 7, 1844 in Georgia; died January 19,1919. She was the daughter of 18. Wilson Mc Mullin and 19. Martha Gandy.
Notes for James Monroe Gunn::: In 1824, Jesse T. Gunn the son of Gabriel Gunn, who was the son of the Caswell County North Carolina Gunn, John and Mary, settled in the present day Butts county that was carved out of original Pike and Henry County.
 :: Jesse T. Gunn settled on Shotbranch Creek which is approximately two miles north of Worthville in Butts county. It was in Henry county atthe time of his settlement until Butt's was created the following year in December 1825.
 :: In 1835 the James W. Gunn family was living in Butt's county. JamesM. Gunn's father was listed as an agent on a deed as being from Jonescounty Georgia.
 :: James M. Gunn was born outside of Indian Springs in Butt's County in 1838. J.M. had one older brother by the name of William Daniel Gunn.He had two sisters Mary M. Gunn and Sarah A. Gunn.
 :: In 1842 James had another brother named Evander Gunn born also in Butt's County Georgia. During the year of Evanders birth this family moved next door to Oike County, Georgia. Mary M. Sara A. and William D. Gunn are listed in the 1843 Poor School Records of the 1001 GMD in Pike County, Georgia.
 :: The family appears on the 1850 Federal census with two younger siblings, named L.C. Gunn and the strange name of Doct. J. Gunn. At this time they were living in the 68th. district of Pike county, Georgia. J.W. was living with a possible second wife named H.F.______________.
 :: On December 20, 1851 Spalding County was created from Pike, Fayetteand Henry counties Georgia. the 1001 GMD moved from Pike to Spalding counties, but stayed in the same location.
 :: On November 3, 1853 James M. Gunn, age 15, was listed on Poor School indexes in Spalding County Georgia along with Evander and Lewis C.M.Gunn. The change of county borders simply put the family from Pike into Spalding county without ever moving.
 :: On October 26, 1856, James M. Gunn's grandmother Susan Street Gunn died in Hillsboro, Georgia over in Jones County.
 :: On September 2, 1857, James older brother William Daniel Gunn movedsouth to Worth County, Georgia. This left his father living with two children still living at home in the 1001 GMD of Griffin, Georgia in Spalding County.

 :: The 1860 finds James M. Gunn and Nancy living at Greenfield, Georgia. He was employed as a steam mill hand with Joel Graves Bucket Shop. James is listed as age 22 and Nancy at 16.
 :: On September 10, 1861, James enlisted in the Wiregrass Rifles, Co. "C" 61st. Georgia in Brooks County at Bethel Church. His Captain was James McDonald.
 :: Brother William Daniel had enlisted in this same county at the little town of Tollokon, Georgia on the seventh of this same month.
 :: Younger brother Evander D. Gunn enlisted in Co. "B" 5th Georgia unit known as the "Griffin Light Guards" in Pensecola, Fla.
 :: On June 30 1862 while James M. Gunn was in Virginia with the 61st. Georgia, Evander was discharged from the 5th. Georgia at Saltillo, Mississippi for being under age. he was seventeen years old.
 :: On December 26, 1862, older brother W.D. Gunn was discharged from Co. "C", 61st. Ga. at Brunswick, Georgia due to asthma and vision problems. He served thirteen months with the Wiregrass Rifles.
 :: In 1863, James Madison Gunn's former employer the Graves Bucket Shop was confiscated and placed under the Confederate Navy for the production of buckets to be made and shipped to an Albany, Georgia meat packing house supplying the ConfederateArmy.
 :: William D. Gunn was with Co. "C", 11th, Ga. State Guards of the Thomas County Calvery when they signed the Shipping Articles of the Confederate Navy and was exempted from duty in the Army. His brother Evander also signed these articles, whichallowed them both to work in Joel Graves Bucket Shop.
 :: On July 9, 1864 James M. Gunn was captured at Monocasy, Maryland. With his commander Jubal Early they were attempting to attack Washington, D.C. Union General Lewis Wallace, who later wrote the novel Ben Hur, thwarted Jubal Early's attack at Momocasy. James Gunn was transported as a POW to the Federal Hospital in Frederick, Maryland. On July 25,1864 he was transferred to Baltimore Maryland to the U.S.A. General Hospital W. Bldg., Baltimore, Maryland.
 :: James M. Gunn signed the US Oath of Alliegance on February 21, 1865at Ft. Mc Henry in Baltimore Maryland. Back home in Greenfirld, Georgia the Graves men also signed thuis same oath. Two months later on April 9, 1865 at Appromatix Court HouseVirginia, Robert E. Lee surrendered his tattered army to General Grant.
 :: On May 9, 1865, James M. Gunn was transferred from USA Hospital at Baltimore too Ft. Mc Henry and released. He was released to return to Montecello Florida in Jefferson County, listed as his residence.
 :: James M. Gunn never returned home and in 1866 his wife Nancy Gunn married William E. Johnson at Hopewell Baptist Church. This "Bill" Johnson served along side Evander and William Daniel Gunn in the 11th. GA Calvery.
 :: In 1869 Daniel Johnson was the first born of Nancy and Bill Johnson. Wilson was nine years old when his half-brother Daniel Johnson was born. Wilson's nickname was Wilkes. Wilkes County was the first county the North Carolina Gunn's settled in upon arriving in Georgia.
