- ↑ American Biography : A New Cyclopedia edited by Cutter gives mother as Sarah Partridge while giving this birth date. This is clearly an error since the birth record with this date names the mother as Hannah. No record of a Samuel Smith and Sarah Partridge has been located. The same incorrect parents are found in Source:Morse, J. Howard. Morse Genealogy : Comprising the Descendants of Samuel, Anthony, William and Joseph Morse and John Moss : Being a Revision of the, published 1903, p. 30, possibly an editing error since Sarah Partridge is mentioned in a different marriage two lines down? Apparently this was simply copied by Cutter without noticing, or correcting the mother's name to Hannah, when he added the birthdate.
