Facts and Events
RootsWeb's WorldConnect Project: Sabin Family of North America says: Jeremiah's BIRTH: Rehoboth-VR 737; MARRIAGE: NEHGR 55:311. [From MF] Mary was living at Berwick, ME in 1736 and perhaps 1741. Thebapt. of the last three children is printed as '1730' but the text showsthe year was 1736. NEHGR 82:89,90,205,211. Jeremiah went to York County, then MA, now ME, about 1724 wi th his brothers Samuel & Israel, whoserved there in the militia. Possibly Jeremiah was the 'Joshua' Sabin whoalso served as private from 14 Jun 1725 to 28 Nov 1725, for no JoshuaSabin can be identified. "Jer Sabens," signing by mark, witnesse d a deedfor land in the town of York 5 Jan 1725/26. On 2 Jun 1732 Jeremiah Sabensand wife Mary of Berwick ME both signing by mark, conveyed to Mary'sbrother Thomas Abbot, all right, claim, etc. in the Berwick estate of"our father Joseph Abbot , deceased." This Jeremiah Sabin, or his son,may have been the 'Jeremiah Sabean' who signed a Casco Bay ME petition inNov 1760, that man was the 'Jereh Sabins' grantee of Penobscot Twp, 27Jan 1764. The son Jeremiah was surely the man who, wit h his family,"first settled at Argyle, Nova Scotia in 1762, then moved to the mouth ofthe Sissiboo River there. No death or probate record for Jeremiah Sabinappears in York Co. The church records of Berwick show that on 8 May 1729Mary Sabin s owned the covenant, and "their" children were bapt.subsequently. A. W. Savary who edited the 'Hist. of Annapolis Co, NS'repeats the error he made in the Savary Gen (p 34) identifying hisancestor Jeremiah Sabin of Nova Scotia as a CT born Jere miah, who infact moved to Dutchess Co, NY and remained there. A. W. Savary confessedhis error in Savary Sup. (p 15) but never found his Jeremiah Sabin'scorrect ancestry in the Rehoboth family. References
