The parents of Jeremiah Illingworth have not yet been determined from available records. There is a record of a Jeremiah Illingworth in Calverley having a “base-born” (i.e. – illegitimate) daughter with Sarah Roades of Farsley Parish on 31 March 1673 which may be a candidate as the father of Jeremiah, or it may even be the Jeremiah that married Sarah Lange although if it was, he would have been surely born prior to abt. 1653. [He would have been at least 45 years old in 1698 and likely several years older than Sarah]. Other likely relatives in the area of Calverley include a Phillip Illingworth who was listed as a Tenant of Calverley Parish in 1649 . In addition, marriage records in Calverley Parish between a Thomas Illingworth and Mary Crabtree on 11 September 1679 and a Robert Illingworth and Isabell Sowden on 15 May 1680 in Calverley Parish point to Thomas Illingworth as another possible relative during the timeframe. Additional research and records are needed to prove any suspected relationship between Jeremiah Illingworth and the Illingworths listed above.

The church of St. Wilfrid’s in Calverley has a history that dates back to the 12th century (1154 A.D.) of the Church of England. The Anglican parish church St Wilfrid's has parts dating from the 11th or 12th century. The tower was added and increased in the 13th to 15th century. Several marriage and baptism records of the Illingworth family are located in the records of St. Wilfrid’s Church.
