Hugh Scott settled on the northeast quarter of section 28, inCenter township in 1870, and with his family, now resides inSioux City. He was a resident of Center township for manyyears, eleven of his children having been born in that township.Three of Mr. Scott's daughters, Mollie, Jeanne, and Bessie, haveobtained a large and enviable reputation as musicians. Molliehas given piano recitals in most of the large cities of theUnited States. Bessie as a violinist has toured the countrysuccessfully. Jeanne has lately received flattering notices inthe press, among others the St. Louis Globe as follows: "Thepianist, Miss Jennie Scott, played the Liszt arrangement of the'Erl King' with exquisite expression and with a technique wellnigh flawless. After four recalls she reponded with Chopin'scharming and dainty 'Berceuse' . Miss Scott received a beautifulbouquet at the close of her second number."
