  3. On 13 May 1742, Rachel Newton, the mother, is appointed guardian for Jedediah's brother Peter (Worcester Probate 43314). No guardian is appointed for Jedediah so the assumption is that he was of legal age at that time, i.e., born by 1721. On 10 Mar 1746/47 Jedediah replaced his mother as Peter's guardian, so surely of legal age by then, and in 1749 gave bond to pay the other heirs their portions of the estate when the land was settled on him.

There is no apparent birth record for Jedediah, though a putatively earlier son named Jedediah is recorded in Marlborough VRs as b. 1717 (p. 72) and d. 1719 (record 176), leaving a very small window for Jedediah to be b. before 1721. Leonard estimates the births of several siblings, and puts Margaret b. 1719 (baptized 1 Nov 1719) and Sybilla b. 1721-1722 (baptized 30 Sep 1722).
