In Milton, Wis., Oct. 17, 1901, of tuberculosis, Jedediah Davis, in the 78th year of his age.
Bro. Davis was the eldest son of Jacob and Sarah Davis, descendants of William Davis, who came from Wales to the American Colonies about 1682. He was born in Clark County, Ohio, July 19, 1824, and became a resident of Wisconsin at the age of twenty years, which residence he maintained for more than fifty-seven years, living most of the time in Milton. Six sisters, among whom was the mother of the writer, and two brothers have all gone on before him, a brother, Newton Davis, of North Loup, Neb., being the last of the family. His wife died fourteen years ago, and two children - a daughter and a son - survive him. In early life he made public profession of religion, and, it is believe, was baptized by Eld. Simeon Babcock in Ohio. In Wisconsin he was a member at Berlin and, for many years and up to the time of his death, at Milton. He was a constant reader of the New Testament and a firm believer in its teachings. He patiently waited his appointed time, and went peacefully to his rest. L. A. P.
