    Passed away peacefully, after a brief illness at Stratford General Hospital, on March 9, 2009, Jannetje 'Joan' Van Arkel, of St. Marys, in her 81st year. Predeceased by her beloved husband Cornelis 'Kase' Van Arkel. Loving mother of Wilma and John Duizer of St. Marys, Marianne Detmar, Reinie and Jim de Boer all of Brantford. Sadly missed by eight grandchildren; Christine and Greg Agnew, Cindy and Belford Boakes, Jeff and Amanda Detmar, Pauline and Ron Kerr, Stephen Detmar, Suzanne and Brian Schiedel, Scott and Sarah de Boer and Stephanie de Boer. Forever loved by 11 great-grandchildren; Jennifer, Jessica, Deven, Olivia, Zoe, Matthew, Brent, Eva, Adelaide, Elliott, Hayden. Dear sister of Maartje Bouman and the late Wim, the late Barend and surviving Cockie van Triest, Reyer and Marijke van Triest all of Holland, Corry and Ralph Van Fleet of St. George, Ont. and also survived by several nieces and nephews. Joan will be remembered as a faithful member of the St. Marys Presbyterian Church. The visitation will be held at the ANDREW L. HODGES FUNERAL HOME, 47 Wellington St. South, St. Marys (519-284-2820) on Thursday from 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 p.m. The Funeral Service will be conducted at the ST. MARYS PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 147 Widder St. East, St. Marys, on Friday, March 13, 2009 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Merv Tubb officiating. Interment in St. Marys Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Marys Presbyterian Church or to the charity of choice.
