    Jane Morton Semple hair was born on June 15, 1817 in Pennsylavnia. Her parents were John M. Semple and Margaretta Whiteside (both born in Nothern Ireland). Jane was named after her maternal aunt, Mrs. Jane Whiteside Morton (wife of a Belfast merchant). She graduated from the Stuebenville Female Seminary in Ohio. On November 13, 1838 Jane married Rev. Gilbert Mitchell Hair in Guernsey County, Ohio. Gilbert's brother, Rev. Samuel Hair, was the officiant. The Hairs had five children named Martha Lucia (Mrs. William Fletcher Spurgin), Mary Ibela (Mrs. Samuel Hamilton Stewart), Margaretta Semple (Mrs. John I. Underwood), Benjamin Morton, and Eliza Jane (died in infancy). Jane died on July 30, 1849 in Montgomery, Hamilton County, Ohio. The cause of death was Typhoid Fever. Jane was buried next to her mother at the Pleasant Ridge Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio.
