From the Alton Democrat of Oct 23 and 30th, 1897

23rd - Mrs. Jane Mouw died at her home in this city Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock after a long illness of consumption. She leaves four children to mourn her loss, her husband having died less that two years ago. The funeral will occur Monday in this city and the remains will be taken to Hospers to be interred beside her husband.

30 th - The funeral of the late Mrs. Jane Mouw was held from the Reformed church in this city last Monday, Rev. P. Lepeltak officiating. The remains were taken to Hospers where they were interred in the cemetery at that city. Rev. Mouw and Mrs. R. Mouw together with a number of firends cam down from Hospers to attend the obsequies. They had 4 children. Andrew "Dick" Mouw (1890 - 1956), Henrietta Sherwood (1892 - 1991), Cornelius Vande Kamp (1894 - 1925) and Art Edward Mouw (1896 - 1897).
