Parents

It is not certain who her parents were. She is usually identified as the child of Joel Dayton and Pervilla Parker, but she was born a few years before they married. The 1830 census shows that a female of her age was in Joel's household, so it is assumed that she was the child of either Joel or Pervilla from a previous marriage/relationship. Since Joel (if his birth date is correct) would have been only 16 when she was born, it is assumed that Pervilla was her mother.

Her surname is usually given as Dayton, but may have been Parker (or something else) at birth.
