Rev. James WILLIAMS, son of William WILLIAMS and Nancy HAISLIP of Granville, North Carolina.
James and Sarah married October 03, 1808, Granville Co., NC.
James WILLIAMS once married would leave NC to Tennessee around 1808, first settling in Williamson County (1809), eventually relocating to the area he would name Civil Order, now called Chapel Hill. Here he built his home "Civil Order" and many other successful enterprises.
James' death date is taken from a family Bible of Alfred Ogilvie WILLIAMS. Bible is in the possession of Scott Fraser. He and his wife are both buried on the property now called the McCord Cemetery, Marshall County, TN.
Pictures are provided of "Civil Order". This is not the original home built by James in 1820. The two story white antebellum structure was built by the McCords after 1850. This house no longer stands, burned. The only remaining structure is the smoke house and the stone steps entrance. There are pictures of the inside of this home, with inventory in my possession. Children: Fletcher, Nancy, Chesley B., Jane, William Allison, Robert Norwood, Mary James, James T., Sarah Ann, Elizabeth Angeline, Elgin T., and Martha Matilda.
**There is a Berry Fletcher WILLIAMS that is being associated as a son of James that which is not a proven child. The two children Fletcher and Nancy are only referred to in documents as "Sarah's children". These names do not appear in any other documents of James.
