    James Whitten, who died at his home near Auburn last October, had lived in Kansas since 1856. He was born in Ireland in 1826 and came to America in 1848. He came to Kansas and settled near Burlingame in 1856. He served as a private throughout the war and after being mustered out, moved to Auburn in 1865 and was a resident of that locality until the time of his death.
