There was an Elizabeth Whittam who died at age 36 in Burnley in 1862. So far I cannot find Elizabeth and James with their family in the 1871 census. I wonder if Elizabeth was the one who died in1862. Yes, it is her...she had given birth to John Thomas Jan 19, 1862, a few weeks before his mom’s death. There is a James, age 47, cotton weaver, born Worsthorne Lanc, with Sally Whittam, age 36, born Haworth Yorkshire, in the 1871 census with sons Benjamin and James with birth years and places which match. All the males were cotton weavers.

James Whitham baptised 13 Jun 1824 at St Peter, Burnley. Son of Benjamin and Mary Whitham. Cotton spinner of Worsthorn. There was a Benjamin baptised 9 Mar 1828, son of Mary Whitham of Worsthorn. Are they related? Mary may have been James aunt.
