Biography of James Monroe Treadaway

He first came to DeKalb Co, AL from Cherokee Co, GA where he was born and raised. After he married on Feb 21, 1877, he lived on the forks of Town Creek near Grove Oak near present day High Falls State Park and it was called Grahams in those days. In 1900 he moved to the Tenbroek/Lakeview area where he lived the remainder of his life. Jim's mother taught him how to make quilts and after he got too old to work, he made each of his grandchildren a quilt. These quilts were cherished by his grandchildren and have been passed down to their children and grandchildren. Jim met his wife Melda Little while he was visiting his first cousin once removed Daniel C Treadaway and wife Rosey of Cherokee Co, AL.
