Bondsmen James Scaggs & Valentine Miller; James Scaggs & Betsy Miller. Teste John Hutchinson. Married by John Alderson (returned dated 16 March 1805).4 Employment* Aug 1850 Occupation: farmer in Aug 1850 at District 14, Fayette Co, VA.2 Death* 1867 James died in 1867 at Fayette Co, WV.3 Biography* James Skaggs had a land grant from the Commonwealth of Virginia for 3000 acres more or less in Fayette Co. (now West Virginia), in and around Anstead, Victor, and Sugar Creek. He was appointed Magistrate by the Commonwealth of Virginia and held court and collected taxes in this area.
