James SCOTT was probably christened 28sep1703 at Port Glasgow (IGI) and West Greenock (Latter Day Saints) son of James Scott and Magdalene Rankin (information, R. Kelly). James married Margaret DREGHORN 18jan1735 at West Greenock (Latter day saints) and 29jan1735 at Glasgow (IGI). Margaret must have been daughter of Robert Dreghorn (1680-1742), Glasgow wright (Old country houses of the old Glasgow gentry), possibly chr 18jul1708, Glasgow, daughter of Robert Dreghorn and Margt Dickie (b. 1674, according to Latter Day Saints). Margaret Dreghorn was sister of Allan Dreghorn (1706-1764), timber merchant and architect for St. Andrews Church (1754), St. Andrews Sq., Glasgow, and Robert Dreghorn (1708-1760) (web). Scottish archives have the will of Allan Dreghorn of Ruchill, Glasgow merchant, reg 1766 (scotlandspeople). Margaret was aunt of Robert “Bob Dragon” Dreghorn (d. 1804) and Margaret Dreghorn (who married James Dennistoun of Colgrain) who were children of Robert Dreghorn (1708-1760) and Isabel Bryson (Old country houses of the old Glasgow gentry).
