    James Pitts (1712-1776)
    Merchant of Boston, Massachusetts & Member of the King's Council

    He was born at Boston and graduated from Harvard (1731). He a merchant who traded between Boston and the Bermudas. He was also a Member of the King's Council from 1766 until his death but he was also a leading Patriot. In 1732, he married Elizabeth, daughter of James Bowdoin, and they had seven children (listed).
